The Department of Justice has revised its regulations implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This rule went into effect on March 15, 2011 and into enforcement on March 15, 2012


Among the 313 million people aged 5 and over, 47.0 million speak a language other than English at home.


The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that there are over 9,000,000 people with a severe sensory disability (3.62% of the population)


The Rules Pertaining to Effective Communication

It is a business owners responsibility to provide a sign language, oral interpreter, or Video Remote Interpreting service unless doing so in a particular situation would result in an undue burden, which means significant difficulty or expense.


The IRS provides small business owners with less than $1 Mill in annual revenues a 50% tax credit to cover the costs of interpretation services.
